Azenhas do Mar is a small village at the atlantic coast, in the municipality of Sintra, just a few kilometres north of Lisbon, Portugal. With its small white houses over the sea it is an attractive subject for landscape photographers.

Situated in a picturesque valley near the sea and mountains, with old houses and an interesting set of pools dug into the rock from the 50's, is one of the most appreciated beaches. The beach has a viewpoint of Azenhas Sea which is built on cliffs that descend to the ocean. It's a great place to visit both summer and winter. Azenhas do Mar is a very ancient town, it's origins are lost in the memory of the times. Probably dating from the period of Arab occupation of the first water mills, that gave name to the town.
